Claude Code status line mods
What a status line mod does
A Claude Code status line mod puts live information next to your prompt: context fill, usage limits, token speed, cost, git state or cache timers. The mods below are hand-picked from the directory for that one job, so you can watch usage without leaving the terminal.
How this shortlist is ordered
Entries are sorted by permission level, lowest first. L0 mods read nothing sensitive; higher levels can write files, run commands or reach the network. Each entry shows its level, a summary and a link to the original source. GitHub stars are community interest, not an independent test.
Before you install
Read the permission result and the source, then try the mod in a test project. Several entries target the desktop app's Code tab or the terminal, so check which one your setup uses. Compare with other Claude Code mods by category and the L0–L3 permission guide.
- claude-dashboard L0 — Unified status line for Claude Code with multi-CLI (Claude, Codex, Gemini, Antigravity, z.ai) usage monitoring, context, rate limits, and cost tracking
- quota-meter L0 — A fixed status line showing usage in the five-hour and seven-day plan windows.
- token-meter L0 — A Claude Code mod that shows live token throughput (tok/s, tok/min, tok/hr) in the status line, counting output tokens only, with a learned live estimate while a reply is still streaming.
- cache-clock L0 — A Claude Code mod from the claude-pro-kit marketplace that shows a countdown until the prompt cache expires in the status line, and once it has expired, reports exactly how many tokens the next message will re-send uncached.
- usageline L2 — A status line under the prompt: context, cache hit rate, cache TTL countdown, today's spend for this project, and why a turn missed the cache. /usage prints the project ledger.
- usage-dash L2 — An always-on quota dashboard for Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity, and Grok CLI, with a status bar, side pane, themes, and HTML reports.
- desktop-statusline L2 — A Claude Code plugin that draws a status band above the prompt in the Claude Desktop app's Code tab, showing folder, git branch and state, session age, prompt count and cost, a context meter, 5-hour and weekly usage limit meters with reset countdowns, last-turn stats, idle time versus the prompt-cache TTL, compactions, and running agents.
- status-band L2 — Shows context fill and usage limits in the footer under the prompt in the desktop app, where no status line exists
- amp-inbox-band L2 — Shows unread AMP messages above the prompt, in the status line and as a toast, and can wake an idle Claude Code session to read them. Needs Claude Code 2.1.287 or later.
- usage-bar L3 — Shows a single-line usage status bar above the prompt, including 5-hour, weekly, and per-model plan quotas, reset countdowns, and this session's tokens and cost.
