How to install a mod

Read the source before installing

Check the author's README for version requirements, installation and removal. Pay particular attention to file writes, command execution and network access. L3 does not mean malicious, but you should know where data goes.

Install from a marketplace

If the author provides a marketplace, add the repository and install the named plugin:

claude plugin marketplace add owner/repo
claude plugin install plugin-name

These are command templates. Not every plugin repository includes a marketplace. Check generated commands on project pages against the author's instructions.

Try a local directory

After cloning and inspecting a repository, try it with the --plugin-dir option supported by your current CLI. Do not run installation scripts you have not read.

Troubleshooting

Check the Claude Code version and plugin name, then run validation. Follow claude plugin --help for removal and check whether persistent files need manual cleanup.
