My first Claude Code Mod

A Reddit post showcasing four Claude Code mods (triage-gate, model-fit, hindsight, toolbelt) plus a quiz-me skill, with a GitHub repo link.

About this mod

The author describes four mods built to address daily problems: triage-gate holds commits when a change is large or risky and highlights sensitive files; model-fit compares the cost of a request against a smaller model and suggests /compact or a handoff note; hindsight detects recurring snags and proposes a one-line CLAUDE.md fix; toolbelt lists unused plugins, skills and MCP servers. A quiz-me skill asks comprehension questions about the session's changes. Repo: https://github.com/a-pavithraa/claude-mods

Original text / README

I built mods for problems I run into every day. The agent writes most of my code, but I still read it and make small changes so I don't lose my skills. That's getting harder. One commit often spans many files now, and sometimes I just skim. Comprehension debt grows with every line I commit. At the same time, the number of skills I've installed keeps growing. I already use code-review skills and hooks, but I wanted a check that I can see and control myself. I wanted it for the code, and for the skills and MCP servers I install. So I built four mods: triage-gate holds Claude's commit when a change is big or risky. A pane shows why it was held and which files to read first. Size and blast radius come from local checks. With a TypeSafe key, their Jev model also judges each change for security, data, money, concurrency and public API risk. It does not just flag large code changes. I made a 2-line change that let admin sessions skip the expiry check. Jev flagged it as a likely security change, down to the exact line. You can also ask Codex to review the change. ⛔ Hold: review before commit 1 file · +2 −0 · auth · judged on the whole diff with Jev Why: likely touches security · sensitive path src/auth/session.ts Start with: src/auth/session.ts:42 : Jev points here (security) [ Approve commit ] [ Run Codex review ] [ Refresh assessment ] model-fit shows what each ask cost and whether a smaller model would have done. It is based on the use cases in Anthropic's own guidance. Haiku judges each ask, and after every ask one dim line shows the result: ◇ Looked simple · Opus/high · ≈ $0.29 · judged by Haiku That ask didn't need this conversation, but rereading its 140k tokens cost ≈ $0.29. Ask ones like it in a new session on Haiku: ≈ $0.01. Keep this one for the work it's about. [ Dismiss ] You can turn on Jev as a shadow: it labels the same asks, and /fit shows where Jev and Haiku agree and where they don't. When a conversation gets long, model-fit suggests /compact or a handoff note, a file you can use to continue in a new session. Context is past 150k tokens. /compact for the same task, /clear for a new one. [ Put /compact keep: in prompt ] [ Put /model-fit:baton in prompt ] [ Dismiss ] hindsight spots a snag that comes back in a later session, like reading a huge log file whole, and offers a one-line CLAUDE.md fix you can accept with a button. It is based on Matt Pocock's retro skill. toolbelt lists the plugins, skills and MCP servers I never use. These are mods rather than skills because each one needs a pane or a button I control. Adding more text to Claude's context wouldn't do that. I also added a quiz-me skill that asks questions about the changes made in the session and checks how well you understand them.
