About this mod
Claude Code mod that hides the dim hint line beneath the prompt (? for shortcuts, esc to interrupt, (shift+tab to cycle), ← for agents) and the pills beside it by rewriting the engine's PromptHint component to an empty string through a single ui.render function hook. Install requires CLAUDE_CODE_ENABLE_FUNCTION_HOOKS=1, then /plugin marketplace add zyx1121/hint-mod and /plugin install hint-mod@hint-mod, or claude --plugin-dir /path/to/hint-mod for a single session. The permission mode badge is drawn outside PromptHint and cannot be removed, so a trailing · remains in bypass/plan modes.

Once the shortcuts are in your fingers, the hint line under the prompt is only noise. This mod empties it: ? for shortcuts, esc to interrupt, (shift+tab to cycle), ← for agents and the pills beside them.
It is a Claude Code mod: a plugin whose behaviour lives in a TypeScript hooks module. It rewrites the engine's PromptHint component to an empty string, nothing else.
Install
Function hooks are early access, so the engine loads a mod only with the flag on. Put it in your shell profile:
export CLAUDE_CODE_ENABLE_FUNCTION_HOOKS=1
Then install it as a plugin, from GitHub or from a local clone:
/plugin marketplace add zyx1121/hint-mod
/plugin install hint-mod@hint-mod
Or try it for one session without installing:
claude --plugin-dir /path/to/hint-mod
Limits
The permission mode badge (⏵⏵ bypass permissions on, ⏸ plan mode on) is drawn by the engine outside PromptHint, so no hook can remove it, and a trailing · stays beside it. In the default (Manual) mode there is no badge and the line disappears.
How it is built
| File | Role |
|------|------|
| hooks/register.ts | One ui.render hook on PromptHint that passes the line on with hint: '' |
| tests/register.test.ts | The engine receives an empty hint; draft and working flags pass through |
| types/claude-code.d.ts | The engine contract, written by /plugin-types |
Typecheck with bunx -p typescript tsc -p tsconfig.json and test with CLAUDE_CODE_ENABLE_FUNCTION_HOOKS=1 claude plugin test .. CI runs both.
Contributing
Issues and pull requests are welcome. Keep the mod to one hook; run the typecheck and tests before opening a PR.
