What is a Claude Code mod?
Give your session an interface of its own
A Claude Code mod is a plugin that uses function hooks. It consists of a plugin manifest, a hooks manifest and a module exporting register. It can show status in the terminal, add interactions and handle events. Follow the official documentation for your current version: APIs change.
Think of it as a small tool inside a session: track spending, get a completion alert, watch agents or play a game while waiting.
Three files to check
.claude-plugin/plugin.json: plugin name, version and other metadata.hooks/hooks.json: declares the function modules to load.register.tsx: the actual event and interface registration code.
We preserve the original repository and scan hooks and local imports. A permission level describes capabilities; it cannot prove that an author or dependency is trustworthy.
