Inspired by Claude Code's new mods feature, the author built a plugin marketplace called toolbox, containing six tools that run directly inside Claude Code: /orbit tracks Claude session send/receive connections and supports Deny/Accept lists; /atlas is a file browser/directory tree with git markers, supporting name and text search and one-click editing in micro; /channel sends and receives iMessage directly in Claude Code, supporting reading, replying, inline images, and moving attachments between Claude and Messages; /browse runs a live web browser in a pane next to Claude Code, allowing scrolling and clicking without switching tabs. The author first used Claude Code to generate a SKILL.md skill for drawing mod UI, then built all six plugins based on that skill, speeding up UI development. Lessons: images can be drawn with real pixels or approximated with characters; pixels require terminal support such as kitty/Ghostty, while character fallback is more pixelated; the pane model is highly reusable, and once one works, it can be adapted into different tools such as a browser, file browser, iMessage, network globe, notes, etc.
