# Voice mod for Claude Code:

A Reddit showcase of a voice input mod for Claude Code: click the footer mic, speak, and your words stream into the prompt box; on stop, Haiku rewrites the transcript to remove fillers and fix punctuation without submitting. Speech runs locally with Moonshine tiny, and each dictation makes one small Haiku call.

## Description

Developer post describing a Claude Code voice input mod. Clicking the mic in the footer starts dictation; words stream into the prompt box live. When you stop, Haiku cleans up the transcript (filler removal, punctuation, vocabulary file for Jira keys and file names, handling of 'scratch that' and 'I mean X') and replaces the box contents, but never submits. Speech runs locally with Moonshine tiny, and the first click sets up a Python venv and downloads the model, which then stays loaded. Accuracy is decent but struggles with technical names like PROJ-123 and file paths. No keyboard shortcut yet (ctrl+space did not work), so mic click is the only control. The mod is free; each dictation makes one small Haiku call counted against Claude usage. Install via: claude plugin marketplace add hemanth/voice-mod then claude plugin install voice@voice-mod.

## Install

```
claude plugin marketplace add hemanth/voice-mod
claude plugin install voice@voice-mod
```

## Original README

I've been building a voice input mod for Claude Code. Click the mic in the footer and speak. Your words stream into the prompt box while you talk. When you stop, Haiku rewrites the transcript to remove filler and fix punctuation, then replaces the box contents. It never submits. You read it and press Enter. Notes: - Speech runs locally with Moonshine tiny. The first click sets up a Python venv and downloads the model. The model then stays loaded so the mic opens quickly. - The cleanup prompt takes a vocabulary file (Jira keys, file names) and understands "scratch that" and "I mean X". - Accuracy is decent, not great. Tiny mangles technical names like "PROJ-123" and file paths. I tried Apple's on-device engines too, and they weren't clearly better on my tests. - No keyboard shortcut yet. ctrl+space didn't work, so the mic click is the only control. - The mod itself is free, and the speech runs locally. Each dictation makes one small Haiku call, which counts against your Claude usage. ``` claude plugin marketplace add hemanth/voice-mod claude plugin install voice@voice-mod ``` submitted by /u/init0 [link] [comments]
